Tips For CEOs To Stay Healthy — Mentally And Physically — During COVID
As COVID-19 shook the world, it became even more evident that it is hard to produce projected results at work if you are not healthy — both physically and mentally — but even harder to lead a business.
As COVID-19 shook the world, it became even more evident that it is hard to produce projected results at work if you are not healthy — both physically and mentally — but even harder to lead a business. When we are talking about health, mental health comes first. After all, mental health affects not just how we think and feel, but how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. And during the past two years, CEOs and top executives around the world became more focused on the mental health of their workforces than ever before.
But a “healthy” company starts at the top, so the CEO’s personal well-being shouldn’t be overlooked. So, how can you be a successful CEO in 2022 and stay healthy? Here are four ways to improve your overall health:
1. STAY MENTALLY HEALTHY
When you are emotionally stressed try to not overreact by simply taking a few deep breaths, stepping away from the computer, or taking a short walk. Taking even a small break from your dilemma helps to boost your conscious mind and control a situation.
Talk to someone that you can trust. While talking about your problem you will hear yourself and most likely find a good idea for a solution.
Help someone who is going through a rough time. By helping other people, you will restore your confidence. Often, seeing other people’s problems makes your problem seem irrelevant.
2. KEEP PHYSICALLY FIT
To stay healthy, you need to keep your body healthy. Physical activities are the key. Stay active. You can start small by walking, taking stairs, or doing sit ups in your office. If you find it difficult to stay disciplined when working out on your own, hire a trainer (if possible). A trainer can help you to build healthy physical habits that you can continue on your own and keep moving forward.

3. CHOOSE A HEALTHY DIET
If weight is your problem, and you have a hard time choosing the right diet, hire a dietitian (if possible). They will teach you how to select your food and where to buy nutritious food that’s a good fit for you. You will learn how food makes a difference in your life, and you will feel better and healthier.
4. ADD JOY TO YOUR LIFE
Find time to do whatever makes you happy. Enjoy music, play, and spend time with your friends.
If you have a family, and your time with your loved ones is limited, then schedule family time. Add family activities to your business calendar and treat them as important business activities. The joy you receive from your family time will spike your energy and you will work more effectively.
If you are working in an ongoing stressful environment, take time off. On a weekly basis, devote 24 hours totally to you — no phone, computer, or business. And no rescheduling of that 24-hour respite. Go to the beach, get outside in nature, or just stay at home and read a book. The break will help you to unwind your mind, nourish your body, and recover your energy for the following busy week.
You are the leader. When you motivate others to stay healthy, you will get motivated yourself.
